If you’re looking to watch a movie in Chiang Mai, where should you go? I’ll share information about the two cinemas I actually visited in 2023 and 2024.
Movie Theaters in Chiang Mai
The two cinemas I’ve personally visited are:
- SFX Cinema Maya Chiangmai
- Major Cineplex Central Chiangmai Airport
1. SFX Cinema Maya Chiangmai
This cinema is located on the 5th floor of the MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center, in the Maya area northwest of Chiang Mai’s Old City. It’s within cycling distance, but you can also get there by Grab motorbike taxi from Chiang Mai Gate for about 50-60 baht. It’s within walking distance from the Nimmanhaemin area.

- Mon-Fri: 10:30 AM – 10:00 PM
- Sat, Sun, Holidays: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
2. Major Cineplex Central Airport
This cinema is located on Airport Road in Chiang Mai, an extension of the street in front of Chiang Mai Gate to the south of the Old City. It’s also within cycling distance. It’s on the 4th floor of the CentralPlaza Chiangmai Airport shopping center.
Operating Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Sat, Sun, Holidays: 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM

These are the actual prices I paid when I went to Maya in 2023 and Major in 2024. Please note that prices vary depending on the city, cinema, weekday/weekend/holiday, and seat grade.
- 2023 Maya: 140 Baht (for Demon Slayer)
- 2024 Major: 160 Baht (for How Do You Live?)
Payment Methods
It’s primarily cashless. You operate a machine in the lobby and pay with a credit card.
